Outdoor Miners – Disgust 7”
Pop Echo Records (2010)
As an adult who was born in the 70’s and hit the alternative music revolution at exactly the right time, it is easy to get caught up in nostalgia for a time when I was covering my walls with photos of Nirvana cut out of Rolling Stone Magazine. As much as I wanted to believe I was sidestepping the mainstream at the time, listening to Nirvana was about as mainstream as you could get back then, which is crazy because Nirvana would be nothings if they came 20 years after the fact. Not that this has anything to do with Outdoor Miners, other than the fact that I find myself lamenting the fact that they are 20 years too late, and it is a fact that they would have been fucking HUGE back then, and now due to the fact that most people could care less about bands or music, they will linger in their glorious Edmontonian obscurity, far to weird, far too good to make any sort of cultural impact in 2010. “Friends With Money,” the key track on this 7”, will melt your brain when you hear it.
